The Cleveland Cavaliers are adding former New York Knicks forward Mario Hezonja to their roster, moving quickly after LeBron James elected to join the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency.
The signing, reported Monday, gives Cleveland another option on the wing just days after James turned down a potential reunion with the franchise he led to an NBA championship in 2016. Contract details for Hezonja were not made public.
Hezonja, a top-five draft pick in 2015, played for the Knicks before spending time with several European clubs. His arrival is Cleveland’s first notable move since James chose Philadelphia.
No timetable was announced for when Hezonja will officially join the Cavaliers.
