The Memphis Grizzlies have exercised their team option on center Zach Edey for the 2026/27 season, the club announced Tuesday via its public relations account.
The decision guarantees the third year of Edey’s rookie contract at $6,332,760 against the salary cap. Memphis faced an Oct. 31 deadline to act but moved early, a step widely expected after the rookie’s strong debut campaign.
Edey, the No. 9 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, appeared in 66 games last season, starting 55. He averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.3 blocks across 21.5 minutes per contest.
The two-time National College Player of the Year from Purdue earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors. He underwent ankle surgery in June and remains several weeks away from returning to game action.
