Bob Myers, the architect of four Golden State Warriors championships, is leaving his position as an ESPN basketball analyst to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE), the company announced Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025.
In the newly created full-time post, Myers will focus on expanding opportunities and refining operations across HBSE’s portfolio, which includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, Premier League club Crystal Palace F.C., and a stake in NASCAR’s Joe Gibbs Racing. He will also continue advising managing partner Josh Harris with the NFL’s Washington Commanders, a role he began in 2024 while helping assemble the team’s leadership structure.
HBSE said existing reporting lines will stay intact; presidents of basketball and hockey operations will keep reporting directly to their respective ownership groups. Although Myers will remain based in California, he plans regular travel to HBSE and Commanders facilities and events.
“Our goal has been to hire, grow, and retain the best and brightest executives in the world, and we are a stronger, more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers,” HBSE co-founders Josh Harris and David Blitzer said in a joint statement. They praised Myers’ championship résumé and said his arrival would help the company “maximize opportunities across our portfolio.”
Myers, 50, spent 14 years as a player agent before joining Golden State’s front office in 2011. He became president and general manager, assembling rosters that captured NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He was named NBA Executive of the Year in 2015 and 2017.
After stepping down from the Warriors in 2023, Myers moved to ESPN, appearing on the network’s NBA pre- and postgame programming. He also worked closely with Harris in 2024, aiding the Commanders’ hires of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn.
“This role provides the chance to collaborate with some of the industry’s most talented leaders across the world’s biggest sports leagues,” Myers said. “By leveraging HBSE’s global presence, we can create competitive advantages for our athletes and teams.” He also thanked Disney chief executive Bob Iger, ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro and his colleagues at the network “for an incredible experience.”
