The Memphis Grizzlies have added guard Charlie Brown Jr. and released forward Tyler Burton, the club announced Monday.
Brown, 28, enters camp after spending last season with Raptors 905 in the NBA G League, where he averaged 12.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 21 regular-season games and matched a league record with nine steals in a single contest. The 6-foot-6 guard was dealt to Charlotte last October as part of the three-team trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to New York but was waived before appearing in a game for the Hornets.
Undrafted out of Saint Joseph’s in 2019, Brown has appeared in 49 NBA games with five teams. His only NBA minutes since 2022 came during an eight-game stint with the Knicks on a two-way contract in the 2023-24 season.
Memphis did not disclose contract terms, but with 15 players already holding guaranteed deals, Brown is expected to arrive on an Exhibit 10 agreement. If waived and he spends at least 60 days with the Grizzlies’ G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, he could earn a bonus of up to $85,300.
Burton, 24, joined the Grizzlies on a training-camp deal in early September. The 6-foot-7 wing appeared in eight games for the Hustle last season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 12 minutes per night. After three seasons at Richmond and two at Villanova, he went undrafted in 2024. Burton is expected to return to the Hustle as a returning-rights player and remains eligible for an Exhibit 10 bonus.
