The Golden State Warriors officially completed two back-court moves on Tuesday, announcing the signing of free-agent guard De’Anthony Melton and confirming a separate agreement with veteran shooter Seth Curry.
Melton’s contract details
Melton inked a two-year contract at the veteran minimum, valued at $3,080,921 for the 2025/26 season with a $3,451,779 player option for 2026/27, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Because the deal spans multiple years, Golden State will carry Melton’s full first-year salary against the cap instead of the reduced two-year veteran minimum figure, nudging the club closer to the NBA’s second-apron hard cap.
Injury status
The 27-year-old guard averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 20.2 minutes over six games with Golden State last season before tearing his ACL, an injury that ended his year. ESPN’s Anthony Slater reports that Melton, still in the late stages of rehabilitation, is expected to miss the start of the 2025/26 regular season. The Warriors plan to proceed cautiously with his return timetable.
Curry joins on Exhibit 9
The team also finalized an Exhibit 9 contract with Seth Curry. The non-guaranteed deal does not count against the cap, giving Golden State flexibility amid hard-cap constraints. With the Warriors unlikely to carry 15 guaranteed contracts into opening night, the expectation is that Curry will be waived before the regular season and could re-sign later on a prorated minimum contract once the club can fit his salary under the cap.
Roster outlook
Following Tuesday’s moves, the Warriors have filled all 21 preseason roster spots.
