Undrafted guard Milos Uzan believes his Exhibit 10 agreement gives him a legitimate chance to break into the Celtics’ regular-season rotation. The former Houston Cougars starter signed the non-guaranteed, minimum-salary contract with Boston two weeks ago and joined the club’s Las Vegas Summer League squad.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Uzan said. “I can guard, run a team, make open shots and create late-game plays.” An Exhibit 10 deal can be converted to a two-way slot before opening night, and a player waived from such a contract can earn a bonus of up to $91,000 by spending 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate.

Rookie big man Cenac flashes defense

No. 27 overall pick Chris Cenac Jr. impressed Boston’s staff despite modest shooting numbers in Las Vegas. The 19-year-old center produced 8.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks across 23.3 minutes per game while shooting .366 from the field and .273 from three over four contests. “He just continues to get better,” Uzan noted, pointing to Cenac’s improved decision-making in pick-and-roll situations.

Mitchell’s status still undecided

Second-round forward Dillon Mitchell averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 boards, 2.7 steals and 1.3 blocks in three Summer League outings. The 6-8 wing remains unsigned, leaving the front office to choose between a standard contract and a two-way deal.

Eastern race tightens

Boston’s path in the Atlantic Division grew tougher after the 76ers added LeBron James in free agency and acquired longtime Celtics star Jaylen Brown via trade. Philadelphia also signed Dean Wade and Anfernee Simons, moves that, along with the defending champion Knicks’ roster, could position Boston as no better than third in the division.
