Jaron Pierre Jr. reaches two-way deal with Pelicans

Undrafted guard Jaron Pierre Jr. has agreed to a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Marc Stein. The move fills the club’s second of three two-way slots.
Pierre, 23, played at four Division I programs. He began his career at Southern Miss in 2020-21 and spent two seasons there before transferring to Wichita State for the 2022-23 campaign. After redshirting the following year, he joined Jacksonville State for 2024-25, averaging 21.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists on his way to being named Conference USA Player of the Year. The New Orleans native finished his college run at SMU, posting 17.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from three and 75.8 percent at the free-throw line.
Pierre appeared in three games for the Pelicans during the 2026 Summer League, averaging 10.0 points in 22.0 minutes despite struggling from the floor.
Center Hunter Dickinson occupies another of New Orleans’ two-way spots, leaving one opening once Pierre’s deal becomes official.
