Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul said LeBron James will not be hurried into selecting his next team, emphasizing that the four-time MVP views the choice as a major business move rather than a public spectacle.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of his “Game Over” podcast with Max Kellerman, Paul stressed that no external pressure will dictate when the decision is made. “We’re not making this about attention and a spectacle… He has a business choice to make,” Paul said.
James, who has spent nearly three weeks as an unrestricted free agent, is believed to be weighing offers from the Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, Warriors, and Timberwolves. Recent reporting from ESPN’s Shams Charania has highlighted the three Eastern Conference clubs—Cleveland, Miami, and Philadelphia—as primary contenders. Paul, however, declined to reveal any leanings or a timetable. “I don’t know when his choice is going to be made,” he said. “It could be 48 seconds, it could be 48 minutes.”
According to Paul, James already has the information he needs and is not seeking additional pitches. “All the messages have been sent,” Paul explained, adding that teams should not hold roster spots open in anticipation. “If they want to fill their roster spots, we’re not saying don’t.”
The agent noted that he has advised James to look beyond offseason projections. “Everything looks good on paper in July,” Paul said. “But when the battle actually starts, you start to see tendencies.” He cautioned that no situation is perfect and urged the 20-year veteran to evaluate each option thoroughly.
Paul dismissed speculation that James is intentionally drawing out the process for publicity. “It’s the lowest-hanging fruit when you don’t have the information,” he said.
James remains the most significant free agent yet to commit this offseason, leaving teams and fans awaiting a final decision that, according to his agent, will come only when the player is ready.
