The Denver Nuggets have re-signed veteran guard Tyus Jones to a one-year agreement, the team confirmed in the NBA.com transaction log on July 15.

Initial word of the deal surfaced on July 2, when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the unrestricted free agent had decided to return to Denver. Contract details were not disclosed, but league sources expect it to be a veteran’s minimum arrangement that could include partial or non-guaranteed terms. A minimum pact would pay Jones approximately $3.88 million next season while counting $2.45 million against the salary cap.

Jones, 30, was selected 24th overall in the 2015 draft. He spent his first four NBA seasons with the Timberwolves and another four with the Grizzlies before shorter stops in Orlando, Dallas and Denver during the 2025-26 campaign. In 67 regular-season appearances across those three clubs last year, he averaged 3.0 points, 2.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 14.6 minutes, shooting 34.9 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three-point range.

Denver used Jones in three playoff contests before falling to Minnesota in six games in the first round. Head coach David Adelman praised the 6’0" floor general’s steadiness during that series, and the front office moved quickly to retain him after declining its team option on fellow guard Jalen Pickett, leaving no established reserve behind starter Jamal Murray.

Although Jones struggled offensively last season, he owns a strong NBA résumé. With Phoenix in 2024-25, he logged career-best numbers: 10.2 points, 5.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals over 81 games while shooting 44.8 percent overall and 41.4 percent from deep. He has led the league in assist-to-turnover ratio multiple times and is widely regarded for ball security, attributes Denver hopes will stabilize its second unit despite his defensive limitations.
