NBA franchises courting unrestricted free agent LeBron James have moved beyond standard text messages, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. Executives are now recording voice notes and relaying them through agent Rich Paul in an effort to sway the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Charania reported that James continues to collect information from interested clubs and has set no timetable for announcing his next move. Multiple front-office sources told The Athletic they remain unsure of the 38-year-old star’s intentions.

Several Teams in the Hunt

Recent speculation has linked the four-time MVP to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. Around the league, Cleveland is still viewed as the frontrunner, though team officials acknowledge that they are waiting for James to decide. Commentator Bill Simmons went as far as to call a Cavaliers reunion “a done deal,” but no confirmation has surfaced.

Offseason at a Leisurely Pace

While teams leave their audio pitches, James has spent most of the summer vacationing with family and friends and playing golf. He is currently in Puerto Rico with longtime friend and fellow free agent Draymond Green, whose own future also remains unresolved.

With executives resorting to voice messages, the NBA’s most anticipated free-agency decision continues to unfold without a clear deadline—or any public hint from James himself.
