The Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs all made roster or staff moves Wednesday, adding depth and flexibility ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Warriors sign Charles Bassey to one-year deal

Center Charles Bassey, 25, has agreed to a one-year contract to return to Golden State, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The 6-foot-11 big man closed last season with the Warriors after a series of short-term stops around the league. In five late-season appearances, he averaged 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while also playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.

Bassey, a 2021 second-round pick, has previously logged time with the 76ers, Spurs, Grizzlies and Celtics. He is expected to bolster the Warriors’ frontcourt rotation behind Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford after the team chose not to match the Grizzlies’ three-year, $30 million offer sheet for Quinten Post.

Mavericks adjust coaching staff

New head coach Dusty May continues to reshape his bench in Dallas. According to DallasHoopsJournal.com, veteran assistant Frank Vogel will not return next season. Longtime assistant Phil Handy, who has a strong working relationship with star guard Kyrie Irving, is expected to remain. The report also notes that assistant Josh Broghamer could retain his spot on the staff.

Harrison Barnes waives no-trade protection in Spurs deal

Forward Harrison Barnes removed his automatic no-trade clause as part of the one-year, $8 million contract he signed to stay with San Antonio, Hoops Rumors reported. Players re-signing for one year with their current club typically earn the right to veto any trade during that season; Barnes’ decision gives the Spurs added flexibility should they explore deals before the trade deadline.
