PHILADELPHIA — The 76ers have secured free-agent guard Anfernee Simons on a two-year, $12.3 million agreement that includes a player option for the second season, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
The 24-year-old drew interest from the Warriors, Heat, Mavericks, Nuggets and Pacers before Philadelphia topped the market with the richest offer, according to The Stein Line. Golden State was said to have extended only a veteran-minimum deal as it waits on LeBron James’ free-agency decision.
Simons averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists across 55 games last season while splitting time between Boston and Chicago. He joins a revamped Sixers roster that recently added Jaylen Brown, Dean Wade and Ariel Hukporti.
Knicks
NEW YORK — The Knicks have made multiple attempts to acquire Pelicans center Yves Missi but were turned away each time, league insider Chris Haynes reported. New Orleans has informed teams it views the 20-year-old as a long-term cornerstone.
New York’s search for frontcourt help intensified after Mitchell Robinson departed for Boston in free agency.
Lakers
LOS ANGELES — The Lakers could explore a trade or a waive-and-stretch maneuver involving players such as Jarred Vanderbilt or Deandre Ayton to free cap space to re-sign forward Rui Hachimura, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported, citing league sources.
McMenamin emphasized that the discussion remains speculative and that no move is considered imminent.
