LeBron James Unsure Whether 2026-27 Will Be His Last NBA Season

LeBron James plans to leave the Los Angeles Lakers, but he has not decided if the 2026-27 campaign will mark the end of his NBA career, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
McMenamin reported that the 41-year-old forward has instructed agent Rich Paul to field offers from any interested franchise, effectively opening the door to all 29 teams outside Los Angeles. Recent speculation has linked James to the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
James has changed teams three times—moving from Cleveland to Miami in 2010, back to Cleveland in 2014 and to Los Angeles in 2018—and appears poised for another relocation as he enters his 24th season. He will turn 42 in late December.
Last season, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds, remaining one of the league’s most productive offensive players. While he is committed to playing in 2026-27, whether he continues beyond that season or embarks on a farewell tour remains undecided.
