The Boston Celtics have told potential trade partners they will not consider moving Jaylen Brown unless the offer includes at least four first-round draft picks, ESPN insider Shams Charania said Friday on the network’s “Get Up.”
According to Charania, Boston continues to gauge the market for the four-time All-Star while weighing offseason options to retool the roster without sacrificing immediate competitiveness.
Team sources have maintained that the organization wants to avoid a lengthy rebuild, keeping Jayson Tatum and Derrick White as foundational pieces.
Charania previously reported that the Celtics discussed a package of Brown and future picks with the Milwaukee Bucks in an unsuccessful attempt to land Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this offseason.
Brown, entering his age-29 season, is regarded as one of the NBA’s top two-way wings and is expected to attract significant interest. Any deal is likely to require more than draft assets, as Boston would seek players capable of sustaining its playoff aspirations while Tatum recovers and beyond.
Last season Brown averaged 24.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists while earning another All-Star selection.
