The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to send shooting guard Isaiah Joe to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for two future second-round draft picks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Joe, who turns 27 next Thursday, spent the past four seasons in Oklahoma City after beginning his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers. He appeared in at least 71 regular-season games each year with the Thunder and never shot worse than 40.9 percent from three-point range during that span.
In 2025-26, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.2 minutes per contest across 71 games, including nine starts. He posted a .455/.423/.894 shooting line, with 428 of his 543 field-goal attempts coming from beyond the arc.
While Joe’s perimeter accuracy ranks among the league’s best, his postseason role has been limited. He logged 11.0 minutes per game in 13 of the Thunder’s 15 playoff appearances this spring.
Detroit targeted additional outside shooting to pair with franchise point guard Cade Cunningham and had been linked to Joe throughout the past week. Team officials also value the veteran’s championship experience.
Joe is owed a guaranteed $11.3 million in 2026-27, with a matching $11.3 million team option for 2027-28. The Pistons can absorb his deal through several mechanisms if they remain over the cap, including the $15 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception or a similarly sized trade exception expected from the pending Isaiah Stewart trade to Memphis.
For Oklahoma City, the move mirrors a separate agreement that will send reserve swingman Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for two future second-round picks. Both Joe and Wiggins were considered trade candidates as the Thunder manage a crowded roster and tightening salary cap.
No timetable was given for when the Isaiah Joe transaction will be finalized.
