Washington, D.C. — With the NBA Draft set for Tuesday night, multiple league observers now anticipate the Washington Wizards will choose former BYU standout AJ Dybantsa with the first overall selection.

During ESPN’s draft preview show, insider Shams Charania reported that rival front offices believe Washington is “really narrowing” its focus on Dybantsa. The 6-foot-8 forward has been viewed as the primary alternative to former Kansas guard Darryn Peterson throughout the pre-draft process.

Neither prospect has been told what the Wizards intend to do. “I’m going to find out when you find out,” Dybantsa said Monday. Peterson echoed that uncertainty, adding, “Whoever takes me, I’m going to come in and be delighted to be there.”

Peterson worked out for Washington earlier this month and met with the Utah Jazz over the weekend, but Washington retains full control of the top pick. According to Marc Spears of Andscape, the organization is not entertaining trade offers and plans to stay at No. 1.

The draft begins Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
