Former NBA center and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has accepted the position of basketball general manager at Jackson State University, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Perkins will remain with ESPN while taking on the new role.
Perkins collaborated with first-year head coach Trey Johnson and athletic director Ashley Robinson to finalize the agreement. Jackson State finished last season 12-21 and has not reached the NCAA Tournament since 2007.
International Player Movement
• Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos is considered the frontrunner to sign German wing Isaac Bonga if the 24-year-old does not secure an NBA deal, according to Sportando. Bonga spent last season with Partizan Belgrade, averaging 9.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 38 EuroLeague contests. Partizan reportedly blocked NBA interest a year ago because his contract, which runs through 2027, lacked an in-season exit clause. A Serbian report in late April indicated the Detroit Pistons had explored adding Bonga for 2025-26.
• Guard Armoni Brooks confirmed to Eurohoops.net that he will join French club ASVEL after a productive EuroLeague campaign with Italy’s Milan. Brooks averaged 13.1 points while shooting 51.4 percent on two-pointers and 41.6 percent from beyond the arc. The 26-year-old has appeared in 84 NBA games, most recently with the Brooklyn Nets in 2023-24.
