Washington, D.C. — Monumental Basketball president Michael Winger indicated that Anthony Davis wants to remain a centerpiece of the Wizards’ rebuilding effort. Speaking recently with NBC Sports Washington, Winger said his conversations with the 13-year veteran have been “delightful” and that Davis has expressed “strong interest in being part of what we’re building.”
Washington obtained Davis in a three-team deal in February. The organization is attempting a dual-timeline approach that mixes established stars such as Davis and Trae Young with the No. 1 overall pick and several young prospects.
Heat, Bucks Still Far Apart on Antetokounmpo Price
The Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat remain locked in a stalemate over trade terms for Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. Miami is weighing how many players and draft picks it can part with while preserving a competitive roster alongside Bam Adebayo and the two-time MVP. The Heat are also evaluating whether they would absorb contracts the Bucks might seek to unload, including Bobby Portis, Kyle Kuzma or Myles Turner, a challenging proposition given Miami’s salary commitments.
Magic Continue to Monitor Antetokounmpo Situation
Although not viewed as a frontrunner, Orlando keeps surfacing in Antetokounmpo speculation. Team president Jeff Weltman told reporters he would not discuss specific negotiations but welcomed the suggestion that the Magic possess enough talent to enter the conversation. “You can’t get into that conversation without talent,” Weltman said, adding that the current roster still has “holes” he intends to address.
McNeeley Targets Strength in First Offseason
Hornets forward Liam McNeeley, who saw limited NBA action as a rookie but logged minutes with the Greensboro Swarm, plans to spend the summer in Charlotte focusing on strength training. “I’m not going anywhere,” the 20-year-old said. “The main thing I want to do is come back a lot stronger … be in the weight room a lot and just have a killer mindset.”
