The Detroit Pistons have made center Isaiah Stewart available in trade discussions, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.
The move comes as the franchise surveys its roster following a 60-win season. Stewart, 23, appeared in 58 games, averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He finished seventh in Sixth Man of the Year voting and limited opponents to 43.8 percent shooting at the rim, one of the league’s better interior marks.
Shift in frontcourt rotation
Detroit is reportedly comfortable expanding the role of backup center Paul Reed behind starter Jalen Duren. Reed posted 11.4 points and 5.0 rebounds over the final five games of the team’s second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a stretch in which Stewart’s minutes dropped.
Contract details
Stewart is owed $15 million for the 2026-27 season, with a team option for the same amount in 2027-28. He becomes eligible for a contract extension this summer, a factor that could boost his value in trade talks.
Roster needs and other trade chips
Amick reports that Detroit is targeting additional shooting and playmaking. Stewart’s contract is viewed as a potential pathway to those upgrades, and guards Caris LeVert and Marcus Sasser along with forward Ron Holland are also considered possible trade pieces.
Free-agency targets
The Pistons are expected to monitor several free agents, including Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves and Oklahoma City Thunder wing Isaiah Joe, per the report.
The front office has not commented publicly on the trade speculation.
