Timberwolves Showing Strong Interest in Celtics Guard Derrick White

The Minnesota Timberwolves are exploring trade options that would bring Boston Celtics guard Derrick White to Minneapolis, according to a report by Sam Amick of The Athletic.
White, 31, averaged a career-best 16.5 points last season, earned First-Team All-Defense recognition and remained a key two-way contributor for Boston. His ability to play either guard position, defend multiple spots and operate effectively without dominating the ball is viewed as a natural on-court fit alongside All-Star guard Anthony Edwards.
White is under contract for at least two more seasons, and there have been no indications the Celtics are actively shopping one of their most valuable players. Nevertheless, Amick described Minnesota’s interest as “significant” as the franchise continues to survey the trade market for roster upgrades.
Timberwolves Aim to Retain Ayo Dosunmu
While monitoring external targets, Minnesota is also working to keep free-agent guard Ayo Dosunmu. Marc Stein reported the Timberwolves are “very motivated” to re-sign the 24-year-old, who averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 24 games after arriving at the trade deadline. Dosunmu shot 52 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range during that stretch.
Retaining Dosunmu could require additional salary maneuvering as the team navigates the league’s luxury-tax and apron restrictions.
