The New York Knicks now hold a 3-1 edge in the 2026 NBA Finals after erasing a 23-point deficit Wednesday night in Madison Square Garden, the largest rally in Finals history. Forward OG Anunoby delivered the defining moments of Game 4, vaulting himself into the championship’s MVP discussion.
With 12 seconds left and the score tied, Anunoby blocked San Antonio guard De’Aaron Fox at the rim. Seconds later, he crashed the offensive glass, tipped in a Jalen Brunson miss and sealed a 115-113 victory.
All-around impact
Anunoby’s game-winner capped a night in which he poured in 26 points, buried five three-pointers and switched onto Fox down the stretch to disrupt the Spurs’ pick-and-roll attack. The effort followed his 28-point outing in Game 3 and continued a postseason surge in which he ranks second on the team at 20.7 points per contest while shooting 57.8 percent from the field, 50.6 percent from deep and 86.7 percent at the line across 16 playoff games.
“OG is someone who brings it every night,” Brunson said postgame. “His confidence has grown because of his work ethic. We know we have a superstar in that locker room.”
Teammate Josh Hart echoed the sentiment: “This whole playoff run, he’s been amazing on both ends. He made a winning play.”
Knicks’ collective contributions
Anunoby joins Karl-Anthony Towns and Brunson as focal points of New York’s Finals charge. Towns has drawn praise for two-way excellence, particularly during the opening pair of victories in San Antonio. Brunson continues to provide clutch shot-making despite uneven shooting nights.
The Spurs, led by Fox, will host Game 5 as the series returns to San Antonio. New York needs one more win to secure its first title since 1973; Anunoby’s recent performances have positioned him firmly among the leading candidates for Finals MVP should that happen.
