The Atlanta Hawks have signed head coach Quin Snyder to a multiyear contract extension, the team announced Thursday. Terms of the agreement were not released.

“I am grateful to the Ressler family and humbled to continue leading this team,” Snyder said in a statement. “I love this group of players, love coaching this team and am fortunate to have a tremendous coaching staff.”

Playoff return fuels commitment

Snyder’s new deal follows a season in which Atlanta reached the postseason for the first time in three years. The Hawks finished the regular schedule on a 20–6 surge to claim the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference before falling to the New York Knicks in the opening round.

Focus on stability

Earlier this month, the organization elevated Onsi Saleh from general manager to president of basketball operations. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the franchise is prioritizing continuity heading into the offseason.

Snyder’s track record

The 59-year-old coach took over in Atlanta during the 2022-23 season after eight years with the Utah Jazz. He holds a 132-135 record with the Hawks and a 504-399 mark overall in the NBA. Charania noted that Snyder is the only coach in league history to oversee back-to-back Most Improved Player winners, with Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker earning the honor in each of the past two seasons.
