Rick Brunson on Monday, June 8, addressed for the first time the heated courtside moment that erupted between him and Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox during a game that also involved Brunson’s son, Jalen Brunson.
Speaking publicly, Brunson said his reaction that night was prompted by parental instinct. “I was being a father first,” he told reporters, noting that the intensity of the exchange was driven by his desire to protect Jalen.
Brunson added that emotions can run high in competitive environments but insisted the incident is in the past and that he holds no lingering hard feelings toward Fox.
