NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he is “thrilled” that former President Donald Trump plans to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

Silver’s comment was made ahead of Thursday’s matchup, which marks the first game of the championship series to be played in New York. The commissioner welcomed Trump’s presence, noting that the league encourages high-profile figures from all spheres to experience its marquee event.

The Knicks and Spurs split the first two games of the best-of-seven series in San Antonio, setting the stage for a pivotal Game 3 in Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Trump’s last documented appearance at an NBA Finals game was in 1997, when he attended Game 5 between the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz. Silver did not specify where the former president would be seated but said the league is “prepared to accommodate any security requirements.”
