Former Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis targeted ex-teammate Austin Reaves in the latest episode of the TBS hidden-camera program Foul Play, staging a bogus charity giveaway that left the guard briefly rattled before the prank was revealed.
The episode, released this week, shows Davis orchestrating the stunt with assistance from people close to Reaves. The setup culminates in Reaves being pressured about an on-air “mistake,” forcing him to defend himself while remaining composed. When Davis finally appeared, Reaves greeted him with a hug, ending any tension.
Davis told the cameras he misses Reaves more than any other former Lakers teammate, underscoring the friendship the two built in Los Angeles before Davis was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in the Luka Dončić deal. Reaves later joked, “It’s always something with AD, man. Even when he’s not on my team, he’s still bringing me problems.”
Earlier this season, Davis teamed with LeBron James on the same show to prank Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.
Reaves Approaches Lucrative Free-Agency Summer
While enjoying the spotlight of the prank, Reaves is also preparing for free agency. After playing on what has widely been labeled one of the NBA’s most team-friendly contracts, the unrestricted free agent is expected to command a salary that could approach $40 million annually. Both Reaves and the Lakers have expressed interest in a new deal that would keep him in purple and gold.
