Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown was voted to the 2023-24 All-NBA Second Team, collecting 44 first-team ballots, 54 second-team ballots and two third-team ballots. His overall point total was the highest among players who fell short of the first team. Speaking on social media, Brown admitted he did not expect that level of support, noting that his outspoken nature can make him a polarizing figure among fans and media. The 27-year-old nonetheless expressed appreciation for the honor after another season in which he helped keep Boston firmly in the Eastern Conference title picture.

Sixers take stock of rookies Broome and Edgecombe

The Philadelphia 76ers continue to evaluate the final draft class assembled by former president of basketball operations Daryl Morey. Second-round pick Johni Broome saw limited action as a rookie, appearing in 11 games and logging 55 total minutes—most of them in late-game situations. A knee issue further complicated his development, but team officials have indicated they are not ready to move on from the 6-10 forward after just one season.

Philadelphia is far more encouraged by lottery selection VJ Edgecombe. The 19-year-old guard moved into the starting lineup early, averaging 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals. Pairing Edgecombe with Tyrese Maxey has the organization optimistic about a dynamic young backcourt for the foreseeable future.

Nets firmly rooted in Brooklyn

Despite recent comments from U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill about bringing a professional franchise back to New Jersey, league sources told the New York Post that the Brooklyn Nets have no plans to leave their current home. The team spent 35 years in New Jersey before relocating in 2012, but insiders say ownership is “perfectly happy” in Brooklyn and no serious discussions about another move are underway.

The Nets have now spent more than a decade at Barclays Center, and indications are that the franchise intends to remain there for the long term.
