San Antonio center Luke Kornet received a pre-game blessing from a group of Salesian Sisters shortly before the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 on May 25, 2026.
The nuns met Kornet near the tunnel at Frost Bank Center, offered prayers for his safety and performance, and made the sign of the cross on his forehead, eyewitnesses said. Moments later, Kornet joined his teammates on the court for the Western Conference playoff matchup.
The Spurs went on to win the contest, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Kornet contributed on both ends of the floor, helping San Antonio secure the victory.
The sisters, members of the Salesian order known for youth outreach and education, were invited to the game by local parish supporters, according to team staff.
