With Game 7 of the Eastern Conference first-round series set for Sunday in Detroit, Hoops Wire analyst Sam Amico says he remains confident the Cleveland Cavaliers will advance, even as many observers now favor the Pistons.

Amico originally predicted “Cavaliers in seven” before the series began and reiterated that stance on the “Full Court Cleveland” show this week. The Cavaliers missed a chance to close out the matchup in Game 6, falling at home after a sluggish performance marked by turnovers, questionable shot selection and late-game breakdowns.

Detroit, which has displayed greater consistency throughout the series, will host the winner-take-all contest at Little Caesars Arena. Cleveland owns just one road victory in the postseason, and Amico acknowledged that the Pistons “will believe” in front of a loud home crowd.

According to Amico, the Cavaliers’ game plan remains unchanged: involve their frontcourt early, ease the burden on guards Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, and limit opportunities for Pistons star Cade Cunningham. He added that the outcome will likely hinge on late possessions dominated by marquee players.

“Tight game. Ugly at times. Probably comes down to the final few minutes,” Amico wrote, standing by his initial forecast of a Cleveland victory in seven games.
