The Brooklyn Nets have promoted Makar Gevorkian to assistant general manager, the club confirmed Monday in a press release.
Gevorkian, 33, had served the past two seasons as the team’s vice president of basketball operations alignment and strategic planning. General manager Sean Marks cited Gevorkian’s “strategic, forward-thinking mind” and deep knowledge of the NBA salary cap in announcing the move.
Gevorkian joined Brooklyn in 2020 as a basketball operations assistant. He became a salary cap and strategy associate for the 2021-22 season, then was elevated to director of salary cap in 2022. After two years in that post, he moved into the vice-presidential role before receiving his latest promotion.
He now joins BJ Johnson and Andy Birdsong as assistant GMs working under Marks in the Nets’ front office.
