The Minnesota Timberwolves returned from San Antonio trailing 3-2 in their first-round series after a 126-97 defeat on Tuesday night, yet guard Anthony Edwards insisted the locker room is not rattled.

“I don’t see nobody in our locker room that’s too worried,” Edwards said, according to ESPN. “There’s another basketball game. Come out, put your boots on and get ready to go to war.”

The Spurs seized control early behind rookie center Victor Wembanyama, who scored 16 points in the opening seven minutes less than 48 hours after avoiding suspension for an elbow that led to his Game 4 ejection. Minnesota briefly tied the score in the third quarter before San Antonio pulled away, handing the Timberwolves a second consecutive road loss by more than 30 points. The Spurs have won their last two home games by a combined 67 points.

Edwards finished with 20 points on 13 field-goal attempts, often facing double-teams. Forward Jaden McDaniels hit three three-pointers but battled foul trouble, while forward Julius Randle shot 6-for-17 and is now below 37 percent from the floor for the series.

“We went away from what was working,” head coach Chris Finch said. “Then our defense just cratered.”

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Target Center in Minneapolis. Edwards, managing sore knees and heavy minutes, welcomed the two-day break before the Timberwolves face elimination on their home floor. “I’m so happy,” he said. “I’m ready to get two days.”
