Pelicans Narrow Head-Coaching Search to Final Group

Spread the love

The New Orleans Pelicans have reduced their list of head-coaching candidates to four, according to a report by Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Los Angeles Lakers assistant Darvin Ham, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Sean Sweeney, Portland Trail Blazers assistant Steve Hetzel and former NBA guard Rajon Rondo are the reported finalists. Ham is the only contender with previous head-coaching experience, while Sweeney and Hetzel bring lengthy assistant résumés. Rondo, who ended his playing career in 2022, is viewed as a candidate with strong locker-room credibility and growing coaching aspirations.

The search could still expand. Former Orlando Magic coach Jamahl Mosley may be considered after his recent departure from the franchise, though his status with New Orleans remains undetermined.

The Pelicans have not announced a timeline for a final decision.
