The Detroit Pistons have reached a new contract agreement with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, the team announced on Monday. Financial details and the length of the extension were not revealed.

President of basketball operations Trajan Langdon confirmed the deal as Detroit gets set to open the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday night at Little Caesars Arena against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bickerstaff, 45, has compiled a 104-60 regular-season record during his two years in Detroit, guiding the club to consecutive postseason berths. Last week, the Pistons erased a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Orlando Magic in seven games and reach the second round.

The veteran coach owns a 359-350 mark across 10 NBA seasons and has led teams to the playoffs five times. The upcoming series carries added intrigue: Cleveland dismissed Bickerstaff two years ago, and now his Pistons will face his former team with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals at stake.
