The New York Knicks are close to adding Saint Joseph’s head coach Billy Lange to Mike Brown’s coaching staff, sources told ESPN on Sept. 10, 2025.
Lange was preparing for his seventh season with the Hawks, where he compiled an 81-104 record and logged back-to-back 20-win campaigns. Under his direction, Saint Joseph’s reached the NIT in 2024 and 2025 and produced its first NBA draft pick since 2016 when forward Rasheer Fleming went to the Oklahoma City Thunder with the first selection of the second round in June.
Before taking over at Saint Joseph’s in 2019, Lange spent six seasons as an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers. His résumé also includes seven years as head coach at Navy and two separate stints totaling five years as an assistant under Jay Wright at Villanova.
The Knicks dismissed Tom Thibodeau in June after five seasons and hired two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown in July. Since Brown’s arrival, New York has added former Charlotte Hornets assistant Chris Jent and ex-Birmingham Squadron head coach T.J. Saint to its bench.
