The Chicago Bulls have secured permission to meet with five executives as they begin searching for a new head of basketball operations, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The first wave of interviews will include Minnesota Timberwolves general manager Matt Lloyd, Detroit Pistons senior vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey, Atlanta Hawks senior vice president of basketball operations Bryson Graham, Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Mike Gansey, and San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Dave Telep. Chicago also intends to speak with prominent agent Austin Brown, who leads CAA’s basketball division.
Lloyd began his NBA career in Chicago in 1999 as a media coordinator, later joining the team’s scouting staff. He left for Orlando in 2012 as assistant GM before becoming Minnesota’s senior vice president of basketball operations in 2022 and being elevated to GM two years later.
Lindsey, an NBA executive since 1996, worked for Utah, San Antonio, and Dallas prior to joining Detroit in 2024. He helped steer the Pistons from the league’s worst record to the Eastern Conference’s top seed within two seasons.
Graham spent 15 years with the New Orleans Pelicans—serving one season as general manager—before taking a senior VP post in Atlanta last summer. He earned widespread praise in New Orleans for identifying draft talent.
Gansey assumed Cleveland’s GM position when Koby Altman moved up to team president in 2022. Before that, he operated as assistant GM and oversaw the Cavaliers’ G League affiliate.
Telep owns 13 years of experience with San Antonio, holding previous titles such as vice president of basketball operations, director of player personnel, and director of scouting. Before joining the Spurs, he was ESPN.com’s senior national recruiting analyst and a sideline reporter for ESPNU.
A Chicago native, Brown represents a client roster that includes Donovan Mitchell, Jaren Jackson Jr., Cooper Flagg, Trae Young, and OG Anunoby. Charania notes Brown has turned down multiple front-office offers in recent years, including the Bulls’ general manager position in 2020.
Chicago initiated a complete overhaul by dismissing executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley on April 6.
