Duke forward Cameron Boozer says his drive to win and team-first approach separate him from other prospects positioned near the top of the 2026 NBA Draft.

In an interview with Mark Medina of EssentiallySports, the 6-foot-9 sophomore made a direct pitch to become the draft’s first overall selection. “There are a lot of great candidates, for sure,” Boozer said. “But what I think separates me is my competitiveness and my winning. It’s my willingness to do whatever it takes to win.”

Boozer is widely projected as a marquee prospect in the 2026 class, yet he insisted draft order is not his primary concern. “It doesn’t matter to me at all. That’s just the beginning,” he explained. “Whether you’re one, two or 30 or 35, that’s just the beginning. For me, it’s more about where I am in 10 to 15 years than where I am on the first night.”

The Miami native, who averaged double-digit scoring and rebounding as a freshman, also studies several current NBA stars to refine his game. He cited Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paolo Banchero and LaMelo Ball as players he watches closely. “Keep improving, and let the rest take care of itself,” Boozer said of his development plan.

With two collegiate seasons remaining before he becomes draft-eligible, Boozer emphasized that maintaining steady growth is his top priority while the debate over the No. 1 pick unfolds.
