With only two days remaining in the 2025-26 regular season, 14 of the NBA’s 20 available postseason slots are still unsettled, the league confirmed in a graphic released Friday, April 10, 2026.
The Western Conference has just one certainty so far: the Oklahoma City Thunder have secured the No. 1 seed. Every position behind them remains fluid, with the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets among the teams still jockeying for placement.
The Eastern Conference is equally tight. The Detroit Pistons hold the top seed, but the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers can still shift their order over the final two games.
The most crowded portion of the standings sits between the fourth seed and the play-in boundary in both conferences. A single win or loss over the weekend could alter matchups or decide whether a team starts its postseason in the first round or the play-in tournament.
The NBA’s graphic underscored the league’s message heading into the final weekend: nothing is settled until the last buzzer sounds.
