The NBA has overturned the technical foul assessed to Phoenix Suns wing Dillon Brooks late in Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bulls, allowing him to play Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets.

Brooks was whistled for the infraction with 7:24 remaining in the fourth quarter, a call that would have marked his 18th technical of the season and triggered an automatic one-game suspension. The league office reviewed the incident Monday and rescinded the penalty, according to an official announcement.

The altercation stemmed from a verbal exchange between Brooks and Bulls guard Mac McClung. After review, the league also withdrew McClung’s technical.

Brooks has already served one suspension this year, sitting out Feb. 19 against San Antonio after reaching 16 technicals. Two days later, he fractured his left hand in Orlando and missed more than five weeks before returning to action last Tuesday. In three games since coming back, the 28-year-old is averaging 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

Phoenix enters Tuesday with the seventh-best record in the Western Conference and a slim chance to jump past Minnesota and bypass the play-in tournament.
