San Francisco, CA — Golden State Warriors guard-forward Moses Moody has been diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, the team learned Tuesday after imaging tests, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The injury ends Moody’s 2025-26 campaign and is expected to sideline the 23-year-old well into next season. Typical recovery timelines suggest he is unlikely to be ready for the start of 2026-27.
Moody sustained the tear in the closing minutes of Monday night’s victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Playing his first game in three weeks after a wrist issue, he stole the ball from Cooper Flagg and headed for a breakaway dunk. As he planted, his left knee buckled, the ball slipped away, and he collapsed to the floor clutching his knee before being carted off.
The setback halts what had been the best year of Moody’s five-season NBA career. Through 60 games (49 starts), he averaged career highs with 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steal in 25.7 minutes per contest while shooting 40.1% from three-point range.
The Warriors have not announced a formal timetable for surgery or rehabilitation.
