The Golden State Warriors announced Friday that Stephen Curry will miss the next two contests but is cleared to participate in live-contact practice sessions in the coming days.

Curry has been out since Jan. 30 with patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee. The star guard will not play Saturday in Atlanta or Monday in Dallas, extending his absence to 22 games.

The team said Curry will be re-evaluated Tuesday after the Warriors return to San Francisco from their six-game trip. If his knee responds well, he could rejoin the lineup for home games against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday and the Washington Wizards on Friday.

Golden State has struggled without its leading scorer, posting a 6-14 record during the stretch and dropping to 10th place in the Western Conference. Head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the club is likely headed for the play-in tournament but believes a healthy Curry could spark a late-season push.

The Warriors also anticipate returns from veteran center Al Horford (calf strain) and starting guard Moses Moody (wrist sprain) in the near future.

Curry’s knee condition, commonly called “runner’s knee,” involves swelling and pain around the kneecap. According to the team, several minor setbacks delayed his progress, but recent improvements have cleared the way for full contact work.
