Free-agent guard Malik Beasley has returned to Detroit after repaying roughly $38,000 in outstanding obligations, according to The Detroit News. The 28-year-old has moved back into his local apartment and remains open to re-signing with the Pistons for the 2025-26 season.

Beasley’s summer market stalled amid a federal gambling inquiry. Investigators no longer view him as a target, though he reportedly could still be drawn into the probe. Detroit can bring him back using Non-Bird rights at up to $7.2 million.

In his first year with the Pistons, the 6’4″ swingman appeared in all 82 games, averaging 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals in 27.8 minutes. He shot 41.6% from three, finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting and helped Detroit post a 44-38 record to reach the playoffs for the first time in several seasons.

Pistons roster nearly complete

Detroit has one open standard roster spot left. Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press projects how newly signed wings Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert will fit into head coach Monty Williams’ depth chart.

Cavaliers return to IMG Academy

The Cavaliers will hold training camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for the second consecutive year, running from Sept. 30 through Oct. 5, Cleveland.com reports. Team president Koby Altman said the club is heading back because last year’s visit provided “an invaluable part of our preparations” both on campus and in the local community.
