Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry is projected to remain sidelined for a minimum of 10 more days as he continues to recover from patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.
Curry, who has already missed 15 consecutive games, will be held out for at least five additional contests before the team conducts another evaluation. He has begun on-court activity and plans to intensify his workouts in the coming days.
The timing is challenging for Golden State. The Warriors are 23-16 when Curry plays this season but just 9-17 without him, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Overall, the club sits at 32-33, ninth place in the Western Conference.
Head coach Steve Kerr addressed the situation after Tuesday’s 130-124 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls.
“Both very winnable games,” Kerr said. “Had the lead late tonight—obviously one we should have had—but this is how the NBA is, especially when you’re beaten up.”
Newly acquired center Kristaps Porzingis added that the roster is eager for Curry’s return. “I want to play with Steph,” he said. “Who doesn’t?”
