LOS ANGELES — LeBron James added another milestone to his 23-year résumé on Thursday night, becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in regular-season field goals made.
The 41-year-old Los Angeles Lakers forward entered the matchup with the Denver Nuggets at Crypto.com Arena needing three baskets to move past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing mark of 15,837. James matched the total with an alley-oop from Luka Dončić in the first quarter, then claimed sole possession of the record moments later on a mid-range jumper.
Abdul-Jabbar’s figure, once considered untouchable, stood for decades before James overtook it at 15,838. The new benchmark adds to a list of achievements that already includes the league’s career scoring record, which James seized in 2022, and the record for minutes played, reached last season.
James, now in his 23rd NBA campaign, continues to average high-level production, keeping the possibility open for additional statistical milestones. His plans beyond this season remain unannounced.
