NBA Two-Way Contract Signing Window Closes for 2025/26 Season

The NBA’s deadline for signing two-way contracts expired on Wednesday, March 4, shutting the door on any new two-way agreements for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign. Clubs will regain the ability to issue two-way deals for the 2026/27 season on July 1, although restricted free agents who receive two-way qualifying offers may accept them in June.
Under the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams had to finalize two-way contracts by January 15. With the later cutoff now in place, front offices were active: 34 two-way pacts were completed between the February 6 trade deadline and March 4, while 20 players moved from two-way status to standard NBA contracts during that span.
All 90 league-wide two-way slots are currently occupied. However, clubs can still convert two-way players to standard deals at any time before the season ends; they just cannot fill the vacated two-way spot after a promotion. Boston is among the teams to watch, as Max Shulga and Ron Harper Jr. are candidates to join the Celtics’ 15-man roster, which has three open positions.
Six teams — the Nets, Bulls, Rockets, Lakers, Knicks, and Raptors — made no two-way moves after the trade deadline. The other 24 franchises adjusted their two-way groups during the final month of eligibility.
