The Los Angeles Lakers announced that LeBron James and Rui Hachimura will be in uniform for Sunday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
Veteran star available on back-to-back
James, listed as questionable earlier in the day with left foot arthritis, tested the injury during pre-game warm-ups and was cleared to play. The 41-year-old forward previously said his status would be determined game-to-game on all back-to-back sets in his 23rd NBA season.
Hachimura returns after illness
Hachimura missed the previous two contests because of illness but has recovered and is expected to add scoring depth off the bench.
Lakers seek second straight win
Los Angeles is coming off a wire-to-wire victory over the short-handed Golden State Warriors on Saturday. The club will face a Kings roster missing several regulars, including Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, Keegan Murray, DeAndre Hunter and Dylan Cardwell.
Teammate praise for James
Speaking recently about James’ longevity, Hachimura said fans might not fully recognize the veteran’s accomplishments until after he retires. “I think people are gonna realize after he actually retires,” the forward noted, adding that observers have become accustomed to James’ sustained high-level play.
Tip-off in Sacramento is set for Sunday night as the Lakers attempt to maintain momentum in the Western Conference standings.
