The Los Angeles Lakers ended a three-game losing streak on Saturday night by overpowering the Golden State Warriors 129-101 at Chase Center.
Golden State played without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Kristaps Porzingis, giving Los Angeles an opportunity to regain momentum after stumbling out of the All-Star break. The Lakers seized it immediately, building a double-digit lead early and never trailing.
Luka Doncic, who turned 27 on game day, scored 26 points, pulled down six rebounds and handed out eight assists in just 29 minutes. The guard erupted for 16 points in the third quarter, sinking four consecutive three-pointers to put the game out of reach.
LeBron James set the tone in the opening period, knocking down his first four attempts from long range. The veteran finished with 22 points, seven boards and nine assists.
Los Angeles shot better than 50 percent from beyond the arc before garbage time. Austin Reaves contributed 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while reserves Luke Kennard (16 points) and Jake LaRavia (15 points) also reached double figures. Kennard’s efficient perimeter shooting has stood out since his arrival at the trade deadline.
The win improves the Lakers to 35-24 and keeps them out of the Western Conference Play-In positions for the moment. Head coach Darvin Ham’s squad completes a back-to-back at home against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, then hosts the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.
