Cam Thomas, now in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform, sharply criticized his former club in an exclusive interview published Tuesday, saying the Brooklyn Nets “don’t believe in nobody” and describing his offseason departure as an “ugly divorce.”

The 24-year-old guard spoke with the New York Post on Feb. 27, detailing tension that built during his three seasons in Brooklyn. Thomas said a lack of trust from Nets decision-makers prompted him to seek a move and that he feels “liberated” playing for Milwaukee.

Thomas, drafted 27th overall by Brooklyn in 2021, became a fan favorite at Barclays Center for his scoring bursts but never secured a consistent starting role. According to the interview, he felt the Nets’ coaching staff and front office routinely questioned his game. “They just didn’t believe in anybody, not just me,” he told the newspaper.

After negotiations stalled last summer, Brooklyn traded Thomas to the Bucks, completing a sign-and-trade that cleared cap space for the Nets while giving Milwaukee another offensive option next to Giannis Antetokounmpo. Thomas said he welcomed the change of scenery. “Here they let me hoop,” he said of the Bucks organization.

Neither the Nets nor the Bucks immediately commented on Thomas’s remarks.
