The NBA has issued a $25,000 fine to Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane for forcefully tossing the game ball into the spectator area at the end of Tuesday night’s one-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

With the final buzzer already sounded at Crypto.com Arena, the 27-year-old launched a full-court throw that cleared the opposite basket, struck the shot clock and ricocheted into seats behind the hoop. Video of the sequence, shared on social media by Orlando Sentinel reporter Jason Beede, prompted the league’s disciplinary action.

This is Bane’s second league fine of the season. In December, he was penalized $35,000 for throwing the ball at New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby, an incident the NBA labeled “unsportsmanlike.” He has also accumulated six technical fouls since joining Orlando in a blockbuster summer trade.

Bane is earning $36.7 million in the first year of his deal with the Magic, softening the financial impact of Tuesday’s penalty. The league, however, made clear its stance on post-game conduct: keep the ball—and emotions—under control.
