During All-Star Sunday, 21-time selection LeBron James stepped back to assess both his Hall-of-Fame résumé and the Los Angeles Lakers’ uneven campaign.

Speaking with reporters, the 39-year-old paused when the conversation shifted to longtime rivals Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

“It’s always a pleasure and an honor to see those guys,” James said. “When it comes to me, Steph and KD, we’ll be linked for the rest of our careers.”

All-Star Game Notes

Curry missed the exhibition because of a knee injury, while James and Durant helped their team reach the championship round before falling to a younger U.S. squad led by Anthony Edwards.

Lakers Outlook

Asked about Los Angeles’ season, James offered a candid assessment: “This is a new group. When we’ve played our best basketball, we’ve looked really good. When we’ve been terrible, we’ve looked disgusting.”

He emphasized that the regular season is the time to build chemistry, regain health and determine how the roster fits together. Integrating Luke Kennard and logging consistent minutes as a unit, he said, will matter more than projecting long-term potential right now.

Future Still Undecided

James provided no clarity on where he might play—or whether he will play—beyond the 2025-26 season. “When I know, you guys will know,” he said. “I don’t know. I have no idea. I just want to live.”
