The Atlanta Hawks announced Monday that forward Jonathan Kuminga will remain sidelined through the All-Star break while he continues to recover from a bone bruise in his left knee. The 23-year-old will be reexamined once play resumes.

Kuminga suffered the injury on January 22, hyperextending the knee during Golden State’s loss to Dallas—his last appearance for the Warriors. Two weeks later, the former No. 7 overall pick was sent to Atlanta with Buddy Hield in the trade that moved Kristaps Porziņģis to Golden State.

The knee issue will keep Kuminga out of the Hawks’ next three contests: Tuesday against Charlotte, Thursday at Minnesota and Saturday’s return meeting with the Hornets. The earliest possible debut in an Atlanta uniform is February 19 at Philadelphia, the club’s first game after the break.

Kuminga had requested a trade on January 15, the first day he was eligible to be moved. According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson, the forward did not anticipate landing in Atlanta but is embracing the new opportunity.

The Fresno native could enter unrestricted free agency this offseason. His contract includes a $24.3 million team option for 2026-27, and the Hawks have until June 30 to decide whether to exercise it.
