The Golden State Warriors have upgraded guard Pat Spencer from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal, according to Saturday’s official transactions log. The move allows the 6’2” playmaker to appear in every remaining regular-season game and makes him eligible for the 2026 playoffs.

League sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania that the agreement is worth the prorated veteran minimum of $857,804, the maximum Golden State could offer under the salary cap. Cap analyst Yossi Gozlan confirmed the figure. The contract runs through the end of the season, after which Spencer is slated to hit the market as a restricted free agent, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

By finalizing Spencer’s promotion, the Warriors fill one of the two standard roster vacancies created at Thursday’s trade deadline. The club still has one open standard spot—reports have linked the team to free-agent guard Lonzo Ball—and now carries a two-way opening as well.

Spencer, 29, is enjoying his best NBA season in his third year with Golden State. Through 36 appearances (14.4 minutes per game), he is averaging 5.8 points, 2.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 42.3% from the field, 43.1% from three and 83.3% at the foul line. Thursday’s victory in Phoenix marked his 50th active game, the limit for two-way players, and saw him post a career-high 20 points with six made threes.

The former Loyola Maryland lacrosse star, who played one season of college basketball as a 23-year-old graduate student at Northwestern, has taken on a larger role when Stephen Curry has been sidelined. In 13 contests without the two-time MVP, Spencer is averaging 11.0 points, 5.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 25.3 minutes.

This is the second consecutive season in which Golden State has converted Spencer’s two-way deal into a standard contract, a move that had been widely expected following reports in December and January.
